FVDRA 2024 Annual Report
2024 Goals
● Maintain staging area and Nickelmine Campground
● Continue to reopen trails that have been closed for long duration or forgotten
● Continue to improve mapping and signage throughout the trail network
● Continue to build sense of community
● Host 24 Hour Marathon
Grants
● $5,800 grant received from Cascade Lower Canyon Community Forest
● All construction complete and funding spent, and completion report prepared and
emailed to Matt Wealick at CLCCF
Achievements within trail system
● 757 Volunteer Hours were recorded
● Kelly and Theresa logged 610 Hours for the fiscal year.
● 164 Hours were logged for maintenance days by all volunteers and an additional 18
Hours for impromptu workdays were recorded for other volunteers.
● Started review and updating Trail Forks map
● Restored Sesame Street with the help of CLCCF grant funds and mitigated water erosion
by creating water bars and swales to arrest the flow and remove the water
● Placed approximately 50 fibreglass trail marker wands. Started identifying trails needing
wands
● Built two (2) bridges, 1) Sesame Street, and 2) Mama’s Swamp
● Flagged Clay hill for reopening
● Flagged Beans for reopening
● Flagged Men at Work connector trial to Ted’s Glass Eye for reopening
● Located trails for reopening in 2025, Lost World connecting Campers Pampers, and Mr.
Mikes area to the Trail that Never Was
● Remediated water damage at Stump Ranch Beaver Pond by installing drainage pipes,
creating ditches and building up the trail with fill from gravel pit
● Replaced rotting logs on ICU bench
● Installed culvert on Spodes Connector
● Started on the reclamation of the original Campers Pampers line
● Reopened trails or trail portions

Challenges
● Declining memberships and revenue
o 2024 = 117
o 2023 = 133
o 2022 = 175
o 2021 = 194
o 2020 = 120
● Declining attendance at general meetings
o we achieved quorum of 10 only 1 month in the year (March)
● Declining maintenance attendance
o only a few people show up here and there beyond core group of FVDRA
executives, this continues to be an issue, although this year we have had a slight
uptick in newcomers showing up for maintenance days.
● RSTBC was not responsive to completion of Section 57 Application
● Having a regular FVDRA director’s presence in the area promoting and advocating for
memberships and involvement
● Outdated website
● Limited directors monitoring Facebook group, answering questions and promoting our riding area
